ABOUT THE GEEK
Hi, my name is Emily Montes de Oca. I am an authentic and creative professional focusing on client service, loyalty, and reliability. My creative background spans over 25 years in marketing, branding, and graphic design, working in entrepreneurial corporate communication departments, agencies, and B2B businesses.
I’ve also been an avid photographer since the age of eight; I was like Annie Leibovitz mixed with Legos. I graduated with my BA in visual communications from the University of Tampa in 1999 and launched my own marketing design agency, deocapac designs, in 2005. It served small-to-medium businesses in the Tampa Bay area and beyond. I have worked in all aspects of the creative process ever since.
I excel in print and digital mediums, including logo creation, large-scale branding launches, and marketing plans that embrace non-traditional approaches to attract clients.
But I also know what it’s like to be on the other side of the campaign. I understand how it feels to be an entrepreneur putting your heart and soul into your business. I know about the early mornings, the long nights, and all the caffeine (so much caffeine!). I also know how easy it is for marketing to get lost in the shuffle. Sales fail and potential customers go elsewhere.
That’s why I started Marketing Geek Chic. I want to use my expertise in all aspects of marketing to coach your business creatively and effectively toward success. I have a wealth of experience and knowledge in UX and UI, WordPress, and social media. Let’s share in the riches!

The above is important; it lets you know that I know what I’m doing. But learning about your marketer on a personal level is always a nice touch, right? So, who am I, really?
I’m a yoga enthusiast and always down for some downward dog. I’m a Diet Coke fan who believes that it beats Pepsi hands, and cans, down. I am a bead collector and wine lover (you had me at Merlot……but also at Cabernet, Pinot, and Port). I believe that nature nurtures and am beach-obsessed; sand between my toes is my favorite fashion accessory. I love Frida Kahlo and her artistry influences my work each day.
I live in the small town of Dunedin, Florida as part of an LGBT family. I am a dog mom/dog servant and I’ve been an entrepreneur since 2005. I have eight nieces and nephews and work hard to maintain my reputation as the coolest aunt in The Sunshine State.
